“I don’t have talent. I have tenacity. I have discipline. I have Focus.”

Up late wandering around Youtube on a Tuesday night and I stumbled across this video. One line really resonated with me: “I don’t have talent. I have tenacity. I have discipline. I have Focus.”

I have come to a point in my career where some people (usually with no background in the arts) look at my work and think I’m some kind of genius.

I’m really not.

I just work hard, I have my 10,000 hours. I have a natural talent for perspective and projection, but I don’t have a multi-track mind the way some others do. I feel anyone else who knows this profession sees that.

I’ve thought this for a while, and on considering it it’s left me wondering – does genius, at least in the way popular culture portrays it, actually exist? Highly unlikely, or at least I’m yet to meet such a person.
